The mystery will keep you on your toes while you search for a killer along with Blake, and while it's not a deep mystery it is still a pretty good one.
While the killer was revealed and caught, we were given that resolution, which was a good thing, and I felt it all came together nicely in the end, but I also felt that there was just too much 'going on in the background and a lot of extra conflict that didn't need to be there. However, it is a quick and easy mystery that will be enjoyed by many, and I will probably read the next in the series. Apr 29, Vbloemer rated it it was amazing. Cold-Brewed Murder is set in a small Missouri town that is considered haunted. Blake Harper is up on the rooftop of her building setting up for a Halloween Party, along with some of her co-workers and friends.
One of the friends has left a pair of binoculars on one of the tables and Blake decides to look around with them. A decision she will wish she had never made, espe Cold-Brewed Murder is set in a small Missouri town that is considered haunted. A decision she will wish she had never made, especially when she sees a clown killing the phantom of the opera. Unfortunately for Blake, no one believes what she saw, not even her sister who is a police officer.
She gets into more trouble than she could have imagined. This story kept my interest so much that I read it in one day. Following her through all the ins and outs of investigating what everyone else believes to be a fake murder brings you to the edge of your seat wondering what the truth is in all that she finds out. I truly enjoyed reading this second book in the series and look forward to reading the first book and any that follow the second book.
It has been one of my favorites. Apr 24, Patty rated it it was amazing. She loves the dressing up and the trick or treating. This Halloween though takes a turn for the worst when Blake witnesses a murder. Only problem…there is no body and no proof the murder ever takes place. To top off her crazy Halloween, the love triangle she is in feels more like the friend zone.
Caffeine in Death Wish Coffee
Neither Adam or Sean have made a move to show her that they want more than friendship. But Blake is determined to make a decision in more than just her love life, she has to prove that someone was murdered and she is not crazy. I love the small town of Wilton, Missouri that Neila Young has created. She has created a sweet small town with old world charm and amazing characters. Nelia Young could hold her own with the rest of the mystery writers out there with her amazing ability to create a mystery that not only entertains but keeps you guessing throughout. Even though this book is book 2 in the Coffee Cup mysteries, it could be read as a standalone.
But I highly suggest reading book one to see how the love triangle begins. Cold-Brew Murder is the perfect cup of mystery to tickle your senses.

It is mysterious, fun and cute, with a double shot of danger. It has wonderful characters with a surprising twist at the end that will prove you wrong. So pick up a copy and get ready for a highly caffeinated sweet read! Apr 30, LuLu added it. Or did she? The pace is solid, and the plot is engaging. I enjoyed the diversity of the characters, as well as the dialogue. This was the first book of Ms.
She has a wonderful gift of writing, especially with community building and character development. There was only one part that distracted me, and that was the constant use of endearments for Blake by the two hunky men in her life, but it was a very fun read, and I give Cold-Brewed Murder a well-deserved review of five stars. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy. Apr 29, Courtney rated it it was amazing Shelves: cozy-mystery-reviews.
I absolutely adored this novel. This novel made me feel like I was reading a Joanne Fluke novel. Blake Harper runs a small town coffee shop and has a knack for getting herself into trouble. After she barely made it out of the first novel in the series, Blake is back again sticking her nose into dangerous places. While preparing for a party at The Mystery Cup, she just happens to notice a clown stabbing the Phantom of the Opera in a loft across the street. Instead of letting it go like her sister I absolutely adored this novel.
Instead of letting it go like her sister, Kyle, says she should, Blake dives in head first. Can Blake figure out who the clown is before anyone else gets hurt? I could not put this book down. The characters in this story are people I want to go have a glass of wine with and talk about anything. The town sounds friendly and welcoming, and I want so badly to try Blake's monthly mystery creations. Thankfully she added the recipes in the back!
If you love a good cozy mystery with a touch of romance, you'll absolutely love this book! I highly recommend you grab a copy. Apr 30, Sara Grotz rated it really liked it. I enjoyed reading Cold-Brewed Murder. It was my first in this series, and while I like to start on the first book, there was enough context I didn't miss it.

French press looks marvellous in backlight. An old coffee grinder would work great in a dark setting. A moka pot is fantastic for modern scenes with a minimalist and clean look.
And if you can lay your hands on a siphon coffee maker, know that I envy you enormously. Black and brown colour palette, backlighting, impressive shadows.

I love the way coffee splashes look on a dark background, they are so radiant! What I usually do is start with a dark background and gather some props. Coffee grinders, wooden spoons, coasters, and boxes come in handy here. Their brown colour matches the colour of the coffee but looks darker. Or I can take a ceramic cup if I want to go for a more vintage and magical feeling. We need some colder colours like blue and green.
These colours will add spots of contrast to our warm palette and make it look more balanced. Coffee, versatile as it is, also works pretty well in high key. Especially if you want to add not only cups and drink, but some roasted beans. Or you can try backdrops of a variety of bold colours.
The important thing here is to decide which palette you are going to use before arranging the scene or gathering props.
